New releases, singles, songs and more.
I swear that some day I will be able to write one of these without resorting to “wow been a while, huh?” as an opening. Things are wild right now with work and personal stuff, so I haven’t had the time to devote to writing about music. I want to, though! I am still listening to a lot of stuff both new and old, and today let’s focus on the former.
It’s Friday, there’s new releases to talk about, so here’s my playlist of new stuff and some collected thoughts for you to peruse. I hope things are all well on your end, whoever you are and wherever you are!
Archers of Loaf have a new song… that’s some exciting shit. Earlier this year I was a guest on my friend’s podcast to talk about the Loaf, and wouldn’t you know it they announced their dates and potential for new music shortly after. I’m not saying I willed this into existence with my intense love of Archers, but the timing works for me.
If you kept track of my travels-through-year-end-lists-of-the-past, you’ll know Iji appeared on more than one. They have a new song and it’s very cool!
Some new-to-me names that caught my ear and will have me diving into their albums as the day goes on: Holiday Music (“Moves” goes from wonky indie-rock to driving jangle in a way that sounds very promising), Raspberry Bulbs (buzzy noisy rock is always on the table for me), Exmaid (how can I not with that album art?) and Tosser (intersection of punk-rock, indie-rock and emo? I’m there.)
