Releases for homebodies.
You’d think staying home all day would be conducive to a) listening to a lot of music and b) being able to get more posts up here on The Discover Tab but apparently not.
I’m here trying to kick my butt into getting actual work done while I work from home, and I’ve only been marginally successful so far. I figured that I at least need to get a release day playlist up today, so here we go.
With the news of people losing jobs left and right and what seems like the apocalypse Kilroy Was Here-ing over the horizon, hopefully everyone out there is staying well and taking care. There’s a lot of new stuff out today, so that’s a good way to distract ourselves I’d say. Here’s some that I’m excited about:
Skalpel: I wrote about them a long time ago - and re-posted that article here for y’all recently - so I’m really pumped to check out their first album in years. If you need something to relax to, I’m going to go ahead and recommend this record.
Modern Rituals’ 2018 album The Light That Leaks In caught my ear as they fit snugly into this pocket of heavy, almost Albini-esque mix of melodic aggressiveness. Only a few tracks into their new record and it sounds great to me.
Moaning are back with their sophomore release for Sub Pop. I generally don’t go for the gloomy-moody vocals thing, but I’m very intrigued by what I heard off this record as far as singles go. I’ll dive in today for sure.
