Happy new music Friday! Happy new music Friday… again!
Oops, I missed posting two release days in a row, but I did make my playlists both days so I’m going to do a quick and dirty post in order to share them with you.
March 7th’s playlist:
March 14th’s playlist:
And here’s some even quicker and even dirtier thoughts on stuff released on these days:
Star 99 have a new LP of indie/power-pop out and I’m diggin’ it for sure.
I was a huge fan of Pyres’ Year of Sleep back in 2013, so their latest has been a long time coming. Unfortunately while I don’t love the new record, it’s very possible I'll soften on it - I did wait 12 years for it after all… what the fuck is time?
FITS landed on my year-end list previously with their LP and they’re back with a nice EP of catchy indie rock.
Telethon have yet to become an "album" band for me. Swim Out Past the Breakers had some massive tunes though. Their new one is more consistent a record but maybe misses the huge highs. Still very good.
The States EP hits that vintage power-pop vibe really accurately.
Vacuous have a really cavernous sound but they’re also executing very cool stuff within the death metal template.
In certain circles people seem to be going nuts for the Pyrex album but I found it to be just alright. If you like punk in general though, it’s a must hear.
What are you excited to listen to? What am I missing from my list? Let me know!
As always, please reach out on the hellsite (or the newer lesser evil hellsite). Better yet join the Rosy Overdrive Discord server where I can be found now and again. You can also find me in the corners of Rate Your Music scrounging for obscure emo, hardcore, indie-rock and pop-punk.
That’s it, that’s all. Be excellent to one other.
