A mixtape of new releases and singles, plus some thoughts.

Happy Friday y’all. Had a short week with the holiday Monday, and today is kind of a write-off for me to be honest. Spent some time this morning digging through the new release bin as always, we’ve got a really all-over-the-map one today for you. Makes sense, after a couple truly stacked release days.
There’s a good mix of singles and albums here, with a wild stretch of genres represented. Let me know what you’re spinning today on Twitter, and hit me up with recommendations of things I may have missed when making this playlist.
As always, here’s a couple thoughts:
I’ve been a fan of David Bazan since early Pedro the Lion days so that there’s a new Lo Tom album out today (“LP2”) is very good news indeed. I loved the previous record, so I can’t wait to absorb this one.
I know I heard the 2018 self-titled album from Exhalants, and I know I liked it, but I don’t have a firm memory on their sound or much else other than they were loud and awesome. They’ve got a new one out, “Atonement,” and it also sounds very loud and very awesome. More thoughts on that in the future, I’m sure.
The Heliocentrics have a new album out today, “Telemetric Sounds,” which leads off with a 13 minute title track - ya gotta admire that. Another thing to admire: this is their second album of 2020!
How good is this cover of Big Star’s “Thirteen” by Bedouine, Waxahatchee and Hurray For The Riff Raff? I mean, I thought I had heard enough covers of this track by this point and yet here’s a vital and essential one out in 2020. Wonderful.
I’ll let you dive into the rest of the playlist here. Thanks for reading!
That’s it, that’s all. Be excellent to one other.
